SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- A Springfield woman faces murder charges for the poisoning deaths of two family members, injuring a third.
Greene County prosecutors charged Rachel E. Staudte, 22, with murder in the deaths of her father Mark and brother Shawn Staudte. She faces armed criminal action charges in the poisoning of her sister Sarah Staudte. She survived. Rachel's mother, Diane, was charged Friday for the deaths.
Court documents claim both mother and daughter admitted to poisoning the three family members by placing antifreeze in their drinks between April of 2012 through June of 2013. Prosecutors say Diane told police she was the only one involved. Police questioned Rachel Friday June 21. Police say she and her mother both admitted she too was involved.
Police say Rachel explained she and her mother researched the plan online.
