A reward is being offered for information about a bear that was killed near Lake Tahoe.
More than $5,000 is available for information leading to an arrest of whoever is responsible for the illegal kill last month.
The California Department of Fish and Game found the dead bear on a beach near Homewood on July 30. Investigators say he had been shot at close range, and bled excessively before dying.
There was already a reward of $3,000 available, and now the Humane Society of the United States and the Humane Society Wildlife Land Trust are adding another $2,500.
