A natural gas leak has prompted road closures, that will likely last all day.
Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies were in the area of Folsom Boulevard and La Riviera Drive, at 4:30 a.m. Saturday and noticed an odor of gas. Deputies notified the Sacramento Metro Fire Department, who responded to investigate. Firefighters discovered a natural gas leak and notified PG&E to respond to the area.
PG&E officials said, their crews found a 4-inch steel distribution line that is leaking. They are currently working to repair the leak. Portions of the roadway on La Riviera Drive, at Folsom Boulevard have been block in order for crews to repair the leak. The repairs are estimated to be done sometime Saturday night.
The Sacramento Metro Fire Department had to evacuate the Shell Gas Station, on the corner of Folsom Boulevard and La Riviera Drive. They had them shut down business while the nearby gas leak is being repaired.
