AMBER Alert Suspect in Custody, Kids are OK

Two kids never made it to school in Stanislaus County, prompting an AMBER Alert and four-hour manhunt.

The 9-year-old boy, named Phillip Tumilty, Jr., and his 6-year-old sister, Tiffany, were last seen around 8 a.m. Friday.

Officials say the man who took them is 47-year-old Phillip Tumilty, their father.

Stanislaus County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a home in Empire Friday morning for a family disturbance. Deputies say Tumilty got into a fight with his ex-wife, and afterward he said he would take the two kids to school.

Later in the morning, it was discovered the kids never made it to school. Tumilty does not have custody of the kids.

Tumilty was taken into custody around 12:30 Friday afternoon in Atwater.

CHP officers located him, and say the kids are safe.
