OXNARD (KTLA) --A man has been arrested in connection with a street racing crash in Oxnard that injured a family of 5 over the weekend, police said.
Anthon Chevalier, 33, was arrested over the weekend for participating in street racing, driving under the influence and hit and run.
Chevalier was allegedly racing 23-year-old Torrey Austin around 8:30 p.m. Friday when Austin's Mustang collided with an SUV at the intersection of Maulhardt Drive and Latigo Avenue.
Andrew Hernandez, 35, was driving the SUV along with his 35-year-old wife, Sylvia, and his two sons -- aged 13 and 15 -- and 6-year-old daughter Anais.
The force of the crash caused the SUV to flip onto its roof, trapping the family inside.
Paramedics rushed Andrew and his family to Ventura County Medical Center. Anais was later transferred to Northridge Medical Center. She is listed in stable but critical condition, police said.
Sylvia and her two sons have been upgraded to stable condition.
Austin and his 23-year-old passenger were taken to the hospital with broken bones.
Charges against Austin are still pending.
