LAKE COUNTY, Ohio -- An autopsy performed on Christopher Beller, the man arrested for allegedly raping a teenage girl at his son's New Year's Eve party, shows he committed suicide by stabbing himself to death.
According to officials with the Lake County Coroner's Office, Beller, 48, was found dead in his home on Ridgeview Trail on Saturday evening. Officials say he had several self inflicted stab wounds on his body and left a suicide note.
On Sunday, Lt. Mike Reed, with the Lake County Sheriff's Office, told Fox 8 News authorities had no indication of foul play in Beller's death.
Beller was free on bond after being arrested on January 1, for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl at a New Year's Eve party he allowed his teenage son to throw at their Concord Township home.
Beller was arrested at his home by deputies from the Lake County Sheriff's Department after they responded to a call of a naked female laying in the grass outside the home.
According to the Lake County Sheriff's department, when deputies arrived the 14-year-old was being treated by The Concord Township Fire Department. Authorities say she was highly intoxicated and barely responsive.
After conducting several interviews deputies learned that Beller had allowed his son to throw a party, where Beller had provided a bottle of alcohol and beer to several teens.
Several guests told deputies around 4:45 am, Beller was seen having sex with the 14-year-old female. Authorities say a brief fight broke out between Beller and his son, while the others were able to get the teen outside and call police.
Beller was arrested and charged with a felony count of rape.
He was arraigned on the charge last week and posted bond.Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
