NEW YORK (KTLA) -- Comedian Jerry Lewis is recovering after being rushed to the hospital in New York City on Monday night.
Lewis, 68, collapsed from low blood sugar just moments before a Friars Club gala at the Waldorf Astoria hotel, the New York Post reports.
Lewis was supposed to receive the Applause Award at the gala.
He was also scheduled to present actor Tom Cruise with the top honor of the night, the Friars Club Entertainment Icon Award.
Lewis left the hospital Monday night and was at his hotel room recovering, according to the Post.
Last year, Lewis ended his 45-year run as the spokesperson for the Muscular Dystrophy Association Telethon.
