CORONA ( KTLA) -- Dramatic photos reveal that the relentless rain that pounded Southern California for a week has brought about a closure of the Corona Airport runway, affecting up to 200 aircraft on site.
According to airport manager Richard Brodeur, the airport at 1900 Aviation Drive in Corona will remain closed until further notice.
Brodeur told KTLA that as of mid-day Wednesday, airport staffers were still in the process of extracting the roughly 200 aircraft affected by the floodwaters on and around the runway.
"We're pulling them all to higher ground," Brodeur said.
The airport has established a hotline for aircraft owners and airport users: 951.279.3557. The hotline will be updated regularly with airport and runway status.Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
