It's an opportunity of a lifetime for Dynamo center back, Geoff Cameron.
Cameron received a call up to the U.S. men's national soccer team, who is setting its sights on qualifying this summer for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
"We were here for preseason with the Dynamo so I know the area very well, but it's good to meet up with the guys," Cameron said. "It's a long road ahead of us, you know, five games so you've gotta prepare yourself properly."
Cameron's first taste of action came against Scotland on Saturday, May 26; however, it resulted in an own goal for the Dynamo sensation. Obviously not the way Cameron wanted to start, but fortunately Team USA held on for its 5-1 victory.
Dynamo fans are happy that one of their own is representing the United States.
"It's just a really great opportunity for Geoff Cameron," said Matthew Gere, who attends Strake Jesuit College Prep in Houston.
Gere's friends from Strake Jesuit agree.
"I just think it's an awesome thing for Geoff Cameron. He's a great player. He's really talented. It's going to be a great opportunity for him to really get to have some playing time with the U.S. National team."
"I think it shows that we've got the ability to produce some great players."
Hey, at least the U.S. men's national team has Cameron on its side during this international run.Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
