Just about everybody who has entered the Republican presidential primary has found themselves ahead in the polls at some point. Michelle Bachmann was the Tea Party darling until Rick Perry strutted onto the scene. But when Perry had his "oops" moment and forgot which department of government he wanted to cut, GOPers turned to Herman Cain. 9-9-9 was more like the number of minute's Cain's campaign lasted before gaffes and sex scandals caused the candidate to suspend his operation. Newt Gingrich surged in Cain's wake, Mitt Romney held steady throughout. Ron Paul, Jon Huntsman, and Rick Santorum? Relegated to the edges of the proverbial stage.
