At the Gathering of the Vibes in Bridgeport a few weeks ago, revelers who stuck around into the late hours got to dance with countless others in complete silence. To the outside world, anyway.
At this weekend's Community Unity Day in Collinsville, a company called Silent Storm Sound System is making that happen again; 200 dancers can strap sets of wireless headphones and head under a laser light show dome while three DJs spin records.
The silent dance party starts at 10:30 p.m., but get there much earlier (all afternoon, in fact, from about 1 p.m.) for live music (Vortex and Consider the Source), food, activities and performers. It's sponsored by Collinsville's Downright Music and takes place outdoors at 100A Main St. in the town parking lot.
That's not much time to work on your dance moves, but remember: keep it simple.
