In West Hartford, a woman on her way to a massage allegedly refused to stop even after backing into an SUV, where a woman was removing her 6-month-old child from the vehicle, according to a Feb. 11 article in the Hartford Courant. Neither the woman nor the child were seriously injured.

The 59-year-old driver was charged with risk of injury to a minor, first-degree reckless endangerment, breach of peace and evading responsibility.

She allegedly backed her BMW into the other vehicle’s passenger door, pushing the victim into the side of it.

The victim claimed to have had back pain afterward. When she shouted for the driver to stop, she allegedly rolled down her window and said “I told you I was late,” before driving off.

Thy Name Is Class
A Feb. 11 article in the Hartford Courant reported that police arrested a 40-year-old man who burglarized homes in Branford, North Branford and Guilford.

His targets may have included homes where the occupants were attending the funerals of family members.

Police allegedly found electronics, money and jewels at his home following his arrest on Feb. 9. The homes include that of a late Branford firefighter.

The suspect is accused of stealing a pair of diamond earrings the firefighter had given to his wife as a Christmas present while the widow was attending his funeral.

The man has been charged in connection with burglaries in Branford and is suspected of committing 18 burglaries. He has been charged with three counts of third-degree burglary and three counts of third-degree larceny.

Bail has been set at $450,000.

Give Me All Your Grinders
Police are seeking a man who allegedly robbed a Subway grinder shop in Greenwich while placing an order, according to a Feb. 12 article in the Hartford Courant.

Police said that during the Feb. 11 incident, the suspect entered the store that evening and placed an order. While he was being served, he pulled out a pistol and demanded money.

The suspect, who wore a green hooded top, jeans and a black hat, escaped with an undisclosed amount of money. He was described as between 35 and 40 years old with brown hair. He is also about six feet tall.

V-Day Weekend Misfire
A 22-year-old man allegedly stabbed his wife and himself with the knife used to cut their wedding cake during a heated domestic dispute, according to a Feb. 13 article in the Hartford Courant.

Both parties are being treated for injuries following the incident, which occurred in West Hartford on Feb. 12. Police report that he stabbed his wife once following an argument that began at 11:20 p.m. at their home on South Quaker Lane. He then stabbed himself several times.

The man is in Hartford Hospital under police guard. He is being held in lieu of $500,000 bond and has been charged with first-degree assault, second-degree threatening, disorderly conduct, unlawful restraint, violating a protective order and interfering with an emergency call.
