Mourners Gathered In Plainville, July 30

One week after the slayings, the town of Plainville held a memorial service for Jennifer Hawke-Petit and daughters Hayley Petit and Michaela Petit in a tent in the middle of the closed intersection of Whiting and Maple streets. Family and friends spoke at the memorial, and hundreds of people came to pay their respects to the Petit family. Dr. William Petit, the husband and father of the victims, grew up in Plainville and had a medical practice there.
