The town of <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PLGEO100100202200000" title="Plainville" href="/topic/us/connecticut/hartford-county/plainville-PLGEO100100202200000.topic">Plainville</a> held a memorial service for the slain Petit family members, Jennifer Hawke-Petit and her daughters Hayley Petit and Michaela Petit, in a tent in the middle of the closed intersection of Whiting and Maple streets on July 30. Dr. William Petit Jr., who survived the attack despite being bound and severely beaten, looks back and ackowledges a wave from a family member moments before the memorial began.
