On Shaky Ground

A gaping hole opened up beneath the foundation at the Charton Terrace apartment complex in <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PLGEO100100204120000" title="Middletown" href="/topic/us/connecticut/middlesex-county-%28connecticut%29/middletown-PLGEO100100204120000.topic">Middletown</a> after a mudslide tore away an embankment when the Coginhaug RIver overflowed with the torrential rains Tuesday. Residents of the apartments were evacuated Tuesday but some were being allowed back in late Wednesday afternoon.
