The Trade - July 30 Yankees acquire OF Bobby Abreu, RHP Corey Lidle Philadelphia Phillies acquire SS C.J. Henry, RHP Carlos Monasterios, C Jesus Sanchez, LHP Matt Smith Did it help? Abreu gave the Yankees an All-Star, power-hitting outfielder, while Lidle was a solid righty who aided the back end of the Yankees' starting rotation. Abreu was a success in New York, serving as their starting right fielder through the 2008 season. Between 2007 and 2008, Abreu averaged 18 home runs and 100 RBI per season. The Yankees made the playoffs twice with Abreu, falling in the ALDS each time. Lidle was successful in his half season in New York, going 4-3 mostly as a starter. Lidle's life was cut tragically short when he died in a plane crash in New York on Oct. 11, 2006. The prospects the Yankees gave up are all still in the minor leagues.
