"Connecticut Chuckles VII"

Lutz Children's Museum animal program curator, Stephanie Radowicz (left) watches as Chuckles the groundhog emerges from its cage without seeing its shadow, meaning an early spring during the annual event at the Verplank School in Manchester. Fellow groundhog Punxsutawney Phil had a different prediction after he saw his shadow meaning six more weeks of winter. Chuckles resides at the Lutz Children's Museum in Manchester and enjoys relaxing and snacking on bananas when not performing his annual important job. Tom Brown / Hartford Courant
