Virginia Tech's plan was to redshirt quarterback Tyrod Taylor, the gifted sophomore from Hampton, and give the car keys to senior Sean Glennon. After a season-opening loss to East Carolina in which the offense sputtered, the Hokies junked the plan. Taylor wasn't a cure-all, not for an offense with green-as-grass receivers and an inconsistent running game. But his abilities helped Tech to its second consecutive ACC title and BCS bowl game, and he was named ACC championship game MVP.
