SAN FRANCISCO An estimated 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck deep under the Banda Sea in eastern Indonesia on Saturday. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage, according to media reports.

At a depth of 86 miles, the quake was too deep to cause a tsunami, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said. The temblor struck 144 miles north-northwest of Indonesia's Tanimbar Islands.

Indonesia is recovering from a quake on western Sumatra in September that killed more than 1,000 people.
