A toppled building is seen in the Haitian capital of Port-au-Prince after a huge earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.0 rocked the island nation, causing widespread damage and panic and claiming an as-yet uncounted number of lives. The quake, centered about 10 miles west of Port-au-Prince, collapsed numerous government ministry offices and an unknown number of other buildings.
