Always Warm Up and Cool Down

Skipping a warm up before starting to exercise may not only lead to injury, but also decreases the effectiveness of the activity. A quick five minutes of activity (walking, light jogging, using the elliptical) is a good way to increase rate and get the blood flowing to the muscles. The stretching segment of a workout is often ignored, which doesn't give the body time to return to its normal state.
