Chincoteague Island, Eastern Shore
The three-day event is all about old-fashioned blueberry shortcake, blueberry pancakes, local wines and door prizes. It's also the largest arts and crafts show on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. The festival is opening act for on the most exciting weeks of activity on the scenic island, namely Pony Penning Week and auction of ponies. $4 admission adults (with an online coupon), $1 ages 12 and under.
INDIAN HERITAGE DAY

Jamestown Settlement, James City County
Intertribal dancing and drumming, panel discussions, themed museum tours and hands-on children's activities honor Virginia Indian cultures and their important legacy in America. Presented in partnership with the Virginia Indian community. $13.50 adults, $6.25 ages 6-12.
OUTDOOR STONE SCULPTURE
9 a.m.-7 p.m. now-Oct. 12
Norfolk Botanical Garden, Norfolk
Special summer outdoor art display features 50 large stone sculptures created by Zimbabwe artists. Titled "Mutambo," the collection depicts the art, beauty and people of the African continent and their belief that "spirits are being freed from the stone."
Afterward, enjoy adventures in the children's garden with water play, plants and hands-on experiences.
$7 adults, $6 seniors, $5 ages 3-18; free 2 and under
HOUSEHOLD CHEMICAL COLLECTIONS
Properly dispose of paints/stains, automotive products, lawn and garden chemicals, household cleansers and other chemicals at these collections sponsored by the Virginia Peninsulas Public Service Authority:
July 12: 8 a.m.-noon, County Drive, off Goodwin Neck Road, York County.
July 19: Public Works Operations Complex, 419 N. Armistead Ave., Hampton.
Aug. 9: 9 a.m.-1 p.m., JCSA staff parking lot on Tewning Road, off Ironbound Road, Williamsburg.
New: Computers and fluorescent bulbs are now accepted at all collections; more dates in September.
Collections open to residents of Williamsburg, James City and York counties, Hampton and Poquoson.
