"Vitamin" D, barely detectable in almost all food, is the key molecule in protecting and repairing the human genome.
Vitamin D is repsonisble for activating the human immune system. Low levels are associated with bacterial infection, asthma, viral infection, atuoimmune disorders heart disease and at least 16 types of cancer. Chronic vitamin D deficiency is thought to be the primary cause of autism.
Diet- food- is never to be relied upon as a source of vitamin D. Doctors and medical types suggesting food is a reliable source are mistaken.
Vitamin D is actually the human body's most potent steroid hormone, by factor of billions. It has as much in common with a true vitamin as an aircraft carrier has with a canoe.
