Easy on the workout, killer

Exercising is great for your body, your mind and your future. But while you'd have a hard time finding a doctor who would discourage you from getting to the gym, it's also true that working out can be very dangerous. There are about 7 million injuries annually involving sports and recreation-related activities, according to a 2009 study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Don't cancel your gym membership just yet, however. If you get the proper tools, you'll go a long way toward preventing exercise-related injuries. By Danielle Braff, Special to Tribune Newspapers
