This is great study and confirms what we see in the field. My company offers a service to build and launch restorative health and fitness exercises on iphone and ipad. The users of our customers apps love the same features in our app which are noted as valuable in this article.

This is very interesting work and I am proud to be involved. I would like to add to this story the importance of mHealth in the hands of nurses, midwives, public health professionals, birth attendants and community health workers. The article is very centered on an outdated medical model that is rapidly transforming in the face of the US "Silver Tsunami", health reform, and the massive upswing in information technology. As we know from the world health report - approximately 50-90% of all care given in country is provided by non-physician providers - but the article does not seem to acknowledge the importance of interdisciplinary health "teams" (patient at the center). These teams are critical if we ever hope to really change the health of our communities.

The empowerment of interdisciplinary teams, largely managed by nurses and other non-physician providers, is what it will take to improve the health of those who are disconnected from the services that many of us in urban areas take for granted. Importantly, we know that these same basics hold true globally. Providing care in an effective and affordable way requires technology and diverse teams.

I encourage the Baltimore Sun to more closely reflect the true nature of health and health care as it exists. Marcus Welby is dead. Care now must be patient-centered, technology rich, and driven by teams who care.
