Dozer the dog raises money for Maryland cancer center
Dozer the dog raises money for cancer (May 4, 2012)
This is the race made famous by Dozer the Dog, who ran much of the course along with about 1,200 other runners. Proceeds will be used by the cancer center for breast cancer and health disparities research.
There will be activities for kids as well as the 13.1-mile race.
But Dozer will likely be a big draw. The goldendoodle finished the race after jumping in at about mile 5. He got excited when he saw runners going by his house. Dozer got a medal and his family began fund raising on his behalf and has collected more than $25,000 so far.
He won't be running this year but will greet fans. An 8-mile race-within-a-race has been named for him. Winners will be those with the lowest times in that leg. Those donating $50 or more to Dozer's fund raising pagewill get a stuffed Dozer and a photo.
