LifeBridge Health has invested in urgent care company ExpressCare as the Baltimore health system continues to build on the types of services it offers.
Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed.
The two entities will continue to operate as separate businesses, but will work together in "building strategies for the future," a LifeBridge spokeswoman said.
ExpressCare operates 10 urgent care centers throughout the state with plans to open four more this year. LifeBridge owns Sinai and Northwest hospitals, Hebrew Geriatric Center and Hospital, and Courtland Gardens Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
LifeBridge said the existing company fits in well with its portfolio, which ranges from home care to medical transportation.
