The Douglas Roland Aid for the Trades Scholarship Fund was established in memory of Bristol resident Douglas Roland by his parents Ralph and Linda Roland. Doug passed away suddenly in 2005 and his parents wanted to honor his life by assisting others like him. Doug was a self-made man. He attended trade school after returning home from the military and receiving his GED in order to create a better life for himself. He became a plumber and cherished his career and the opportunities it gave him.
Since 2010 when the scholarship was first awarded, over $12,500 has been granted to four students.
