Rosenberg, who attended but did not graduate from New York University, founded a wholesale wine and spirits business in 1941. Hartley & Parker remains a family business based in Connecticut. He was honored by Time magazine, in conjunction with the Wine & Spirit Wholesalers of America, for his "outstanding business performance as a wholesaler and as a valued citizen through service to his community." Rosenberg and his wife, Lil, co-founded the Jewish Home for the Elderly of Fairfield County. He was president of the Lil & Julie Rosenberg Foundation, which supports various medical and educational institutions in the U.S. and Israel.
