Police will have an increased presence in West Hartford school neighborhoods this week in light of Friday's tragedy in Newtown, West Hartford Schools Superintendent Karen List said.
The police officers won't be parking at the schools, List said, but will be "more vigilant around the schools."
List said a meeting was scheduled with all faculty before school started Monday morning to discuss how to talk to students and families about their grief. Teachers would not be raising the issue at the elementary school level, List said.
"We will follow the lead of our students," she said.
Administrators have been reviewing security and safety measures, she said, and the school crisis teams have been meeting.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
