Amistad America crew member, John Kamara, cries freedom as Amistad departed for an 18 months voyage, called the Atlantic Freedom Tour. The ship retraced the infamous slave industry triangle with stops at nearly 20 ports, which played a significant role in the trade. During the voyage the Amistad sailed into the harbor of Freetown, Sierra Leone, the original West African homeland of many of the Amistad captives. She will also sail to England as a part of 200 years of emancipation.
