Hit and Run (vehicular)Highway and Road Disasters

SOUTHINGTON — Two people were injured after the car they were in was rear-ended early Thursday morning on I-84 in Southington, state police said.

The two, Shaughn Adamski, 25, and Robert Piech, 26, both of Naugatuck, were traveling in Adamski's Honda Civic about 1:30 a.m. on I-84 westbound near Exit 30 when a vehicle in the left lane changed to the center lane and rear-ended their car, state police said.

The Honda Civic skidded across the highway, through the grass and then collided with a tree, state police said. The vehicle that hit the car fled the scene.

The two were taken by ambulance to Saint Mary's Hospital, state police said.

A witness to the accident described the other vehicle as a black Dodge pickup truck.

Anyone with information is being asked to call State Police Troop H at (860) 534-1000.
