Cotton Gin Patent

This plate is attached to a cotton gin manufactured by Eli Whitney in 1803. Whitney's "engin" or gin was designed to remove seeds from the fiber of upland cotton, a process which revolutionized the textile industry. This cotton gin is on display at the New Haven Colony Historical Society. STEPHEN DUNN
