Richard Purdy Wilbur (born March 1, 1921)

Wilbur is a poet and literary translator, according to the <a href="http://www.poets.org/poet.php/prmPID/202">Academy of American Poets</a>. He received the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry twice, in 1957 and again in 1989. Wilbur was appointed as the second Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry to the Library of Congress in 1987. He taught at Wesleyan University in Middletown, for two decades. He is also a translator, specializing in the 17th century French dramas of Jean Racine and the comedies of Molière.
