( Courant file photo / July 2, 2012 ) 2. Caron Butler, 10th overall, Miami, 2002: Butler left UConn after two seasons and slipped in the lottery as NBA executives worried, needlessly, about his knees. Butler started 78 games for the Heat, averaging 15.4 points (second only to Eddie Jones' 18.5), 5.1 rebounds, 1.8 steals and 36.6 minutes. The team finished 25-57 and was seventh in the Atlantic Division. Butler was traded to the Lakers before the 2004-05 season along with Brian Grant, Lamar Odom and a draft pick for Shaquille O'Neal. |
