Part of a building at Rex Forge, at 355 Atwater St., collapsed after a fire broke out there on Tuesday morning. The fire was reported at 7:50 a.m. and reported under control about 11:30 a.m. Thick black smoke rose from the fire, leading to the closure of exit ramps from nearby I-84. Fire department Capt. John Folcik said it appears that oil used in the metal forging process caught fire, and by the time firefighters got to the scene, a large part of the building was heavily involved. Folcik said it took about an hour to extinguish the blaze.
