The temperature reached 102 degrees on August, 9, 2001. <br><br>CAPTION:  Todd Kirker of Norwich hoists a water jug  to quench his thirst during a short break from installing 310 degree asphalt at Shoreline Quick Lube in Old Saybrook Tuesday.  Kirker, who works for B and L Construction of Old Saybrook has worked installing hot asphalt for the past 16 years said the heat spell does not affect his work.  ' You just drink lots of water, and have a good time doing it.'
