New Haven’s Lauren Ambrose (TV’s “Six Feet Under”) and Chris Pine (Captain Kirk in the recent “Star Trek” films) star a revival of Sam Shepard’s “Fool for Love” at Williamstown Theatre Festival’s Nikos Stage July 23 to Aug. 3. Daniel Aukin (off-Broadway’s “4,000 Miles”) directs.
Also at the WTF’s second stage will be the East Coast premiere of Samuel D. Hunter’s “A Great Wilderness” on July 9 to 20.
PigPen Theatre Company’s play with music "The Old Man and the Old Moon” follows Aug. 6 to 17.
On the main stage will be George S. Kaufman and Ring Lardner’s 1929 romantic comedy “June Moon,” directed by Jessica Stone, running July 2 to 13.
This will be followed by the world premiere of “Living on Love” by Joe DiPietro and Garson Kanin, based on Kanin’s play “Peccadillo” with soprano Renee Fleming playing an opera diva in the process of writing her autobiography. Kathleen Marshall directs the production which runs July 16 to 26.
Closing the main stage season will be John Kander and Fred Ebb’s musical “The Visit,” starring Chita Rivera, directed by John Doyle. The show, with a book by Terrence McNally based on the play of revenge by Friedrich Durrenmatt, will run July 31 to Aug. 17. Graciela Daniele choreographs.
