Mike Souza, Brown Assistant And Former New Hampshire Player, To Join UConn Hockey Coaching Staff

According to sources, Mike Souza, a Brown assistant the last two seasons, will be the first staff hire of UConn hockey coach Mike Cavanaugh, pending the typical state background checks, etc.

UConn will have two full-time assistants.

Souza played at New Hampshire (Class of 2000) and then professionally (AHL, international). At UNH, Souza had 156 points in 156 games over four years and participated in two Frozen Fours.

Also, Karl El-Mir, a forward from Montreal who plays for the U-18 team for the Selects Academy at the South Kent School, has kept his commitment to UConn and is said to have been on a visit to Storrs Thursday. He'll debut for the Huskies in either 2014-15 or 2015-16.
