Liv Rooth Featured In 'Loot' At Westport Playhouse

Liv Rooth, who earlier this year starred in “Venus in Fur” at Hartford’s TheaterWorks, is featured in the cast of Joe Orton’s sex farce, “Loot,” which plays July 16 to Aug. 3 at the Westport Country Playhouse.

Rooth also played in “Broadway’s “Venus in Fur,” “Born Yesterday” and “Is He Dead” and off-Broadway’s “All in the Timing.” She also played in the Playhouse’s “Suddenly Last Summer.”

The cast also includes David Manis (Broadway’s “War Horse,” “The Coast of Utopia,” “The Rivals”); Devin Norik (Off-Broadway’s “Unnatural Acts,”); William Peden (Westport Country Playhouse’s “Tartuffe”); and Zach Wegner (off-Broadway’s “Hot Steams”).

The comedy is staged by the theater’s associate artistic director David Kennedy, who also staged the Playhouse’s “Tartuffe,” “Suddenly Last Summer,” “Beyond Therapy” and “Dinner with Friends.”

“’Loot’ is one of the most amazing comedies ever written,” says Mark Lamos, playhouse artistic director. “Its continuing popularity is a testament to the undimmed brilliance of a young writer whose comedies of unruly bad manners rivaled those of the greatest English masters, including Oscar Wilde, George Bernard Shaw, and Noel Coward.”
