Lewis Turco (born May 2, 1934)

Turco is a poet, teacher and writer of fiction and non-fiction, according to the Poetry Foundation. He took an interest in poetry as a teenager. Turco earned a B.A. from the University of Connecticut in 1959, and completed an M.A. at the University of Iowa in 1962. He is an advocate for Formalist poetry in the U.S. Turco taught at Fenn College, where he founded the Cleveland Poetry Center, and at the State University of New York.
