A Shelton manufacturer of latex foam mattresses and the rubber latex supplied to other mattress and pillow manufacturers has filed for bankruptcy protection as it restructures its debt.
The Chapter 11 bankruptcy will not disrupt service to its customers, the company said.
Latex Foam International Holdings, which sells mattresses to customers under the Pure LatexBLISS brand, has 176 employees in Connecticut. It's too soon to tell if the restructuring will mean job reductions, a spokeswoman for the company said.
The company said that it has about $29 million in liabilities and $26 million in assets.
"This move is an opportunity to solidify Latex International's position as the leading manufacturer in the category. The restructuring along with a new infusion of capital will strengthen our current business and position the company for dynamic future growth," said Latex International President and CEO David Fisher.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
