"La Voix Humaine" Yale Opera/Drama Co-Pro In New Haven

Jamilyn Manning-White, soprano, will star in the one-act opera "La Voix Humaine," in a co-production with Yale School of Drama abnd Yale Opera Thursday, May 17 and  Saturday, May 19 at 7 p.m. at at the Iseman Theater, 1156 Chapel St., New Haven.

The production, with music is by Francis Poulenc and lyrics by Jean Cocteau, is directed by Louisa Proske.

The opera centers on a woman talking on the telephone to her lover as their reklationship is about to end.

Tickets are $10.

During the 2011-2012 season with Yale Opera, Manning-White has sung Female Chorus in The Rape of Lucretia, as Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte, sang Elvira in I Puritani and Violetta in La Traviata in their opera scenes program, sang Violetta as a featured soloist with the Hartford Symphony, and was also featured singing excerpts from Anna Bolena with the Metropolitan Opera Guild.

 Manning-White was Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, Belinda in Dido and Aeneas, and the title role in Anna Bolena in their opera scenes program.  She has sung Mrs. Jenks and Laurie in Copland's The Tender Land as a Young American Artist with Glimmerglass Opera, made her Glimmerglass Opera debut as Clorinda in La Cenerentola, and has appeared in the Killer B’s and Latin Lovers concerts with Steven Blier and the New York Festival of Song. 

Manning-White has performed La Fée in Massenet’s Cendrillon, Najade in Strauss’ Ariadne auf Naxos, and Mademoiselle Silberklang in Mozart’s Der Schauspieldirektor.  She has sung the title role of Moore’s The Ballad of Baby Doe, Gilbert and Sullivan's Trial by Jury, Polly in the world premiere of Turin's The Scarecrow and Laetitia in the English National Tour of Menotti's The Old Maid and the Thief

Manning-White has performed in Handel's Messiah, most recently with the Waterbury Symphony, Haydn's The Creation, Milhaud's Quatre Chansons de Ronsard, Stravinsky's The Soldier's Tale and appeared in a concert tour with the Teatro Nacional de Santa Ana of El Salvador.
