Kelly Whaley of Farmington won her third Connecticut State Women's Amateur title, almost as easily as last year.
Her margin of victory Wednesday was 14 shots. Last year it was 16.
She had a 75 for a 54-hole score of 218. Catherine McEvoy followed (75--232) at The Farms Country Club in Wallingford.
Whaley said her goal was to beat her course record (for women) score of 70, which she had recorded in the second round. That didn't happen.
She made a few miscues on the back side iin the last round to finish with a 40.
Nevertheless, she was clearly the dominant player in the tournament.
