Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation¿s Hartford chapter

Calhoun, seen here with grand daughters Peyton and Avery in 2009,  has served as grand marshal of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's Hartford chapter's annual walk to cure diabetes for the past three years, and the plan is the same for this year's event, on Oct. 7. He has been involved in the foundation for for two decades.
The walk raised $350,000 last year, according to the chapter¿s executive director Jon Muskrat, and is a major fundraiser for the foundation.
¿Obviously, he is one of the most recognizable figures in Connecticut,¿ Muskrat said. ¿His name adds a lot. It¿s a big draw and its gets people excited.¿
