A group of about 20 women with a wide range of talents met earlier this year as the "Creative Women's Cooperative" in East Windsor and decorated about 90 children's shoes and booties for a tree at the Festival of Trees and Traditions at the Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford. (The ornament pictured here is "Golden Beads" by Beverly Irish of Somers.) The women from Ashford, Bloomfield, Bolton, East Windsor, Enfield, Simsbury, Somers, South Windsor and Western Massachusetts aptly named their trimmed tree "The Sole of Christmas." Their tree, and many others, can be viewed during the festival, which is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and ends today. For more about the cooperative, see the story inside today's iTowns magazine.
