Raymond C. Hardy, Bolton

Raymond C. Hardy of Bolton was born on a farm in rural Connecticut, not far from the ancestral homes of his Mayflower and Native American ancestors. He says he has always felt a strong connection to the inhabitants of New England's hills and forests. In memory of one of these inhabitants, Hardy has dedicated his life, through his art, to the attempt to repay the debt of gratitude to the whitetail, a fellow being who has offered himself up to sustain countless generations of his ancestors, both physically and spiritually. His hope is that present and future generations will remember. Hardy's sensitive portraits depict his encounters with individual whitetails over the past many years. Each portrait is the memory of the gift of a brief moment in time shared by a "heartbreakingly beautiful" wild creature.
