Abbe Wade of Farmington has been an artist for more than 50 years and teaches children and adults in her school, the Farmington River School of Art in Plainville.
She has taught art classes for the East Hartford adult education program and Blick Art Materials in Plainville. She is particularly interested in pictures of animals and portraits. Her personal education in art was through courses at Central Connecticut State University in New Britain and with private instructors.
Wade said her brother, sculptor Robert Raymond, is her biggest influence. He is nine years older and drew for her as a child to entertain her; she decided early on that she would grow up to be a great artist like her brother.
