North Haven at Xavier-Middletown at Palmer Field, Middletown, Sept. 21: Defending Class LL champion Xavier puts its 26-game winning streak on the line against the Indians, who were 9-2 last year.
Hand-Madison at Hillhouse-New Haven at Bowen Field, New Haven, Sept. 21: Hand, which was 13-0 and the Class L winner last year, is strong again. Hillhouse features running back Harold Cooper.
Glastonbury at Manchester, Oct. 5: Glastonbury, a Class LL playoff team last year, and Manchester, which features Maryland-bound tight end Andrew Isaacs and lineman Chris Simmons, are CCC Division I East rivals.
Hand at Xavier at Palmer Field, Oct. 12: Hand, No. 2 in The Courant's final ratings last year, meets No. 1 of a year ago.
Farmington at Windsor, Oct. 26: Farmington's lone loss last year was to Windsor, which has a potent passing combination in quarterback Quinn Fleeting and receiver Ryheime Moore.
North Branford at Cromwell at Pierson Park, Cromwell, Oct. 26: Matchup of two of the premier teams in the Pequot Sassacus. For North Branford to win it needs to contain Derrick Villard (2,125 rushing yards).
Ellington/Somers at Avon, Nov. 10: Always a Pequot Uncas battle between these two. Ellington/Somers won last year, 14-5.
Conard at Hall, Nov. 17: Hall won the annual clash of West Hartford public high schools last year, 20-0.
Berlin at New Britain, Nov. 21: High emotions any time these neighbors meet; Berlin won a bitter clash last year, 14-7.
Platt-Meriden vs. Maloney-Meriden at Falcon Field, Meriden, Nov. 22: Platt, which won 34-27 last year, has won four straight and nine of the the past 11 Stoddard Bowls.
Sheehan-Wallingford at Lyman Hall-Wallingford, Nov. 22: Lyman Hall won last year's memorable game, 42-38.
Hartford Public vs. Weaver-Hartford at Dillon Stadium, Hartford, Nov. 22: HPHS routed Weaver 54-12 last year. HPHS looks to continue its dominance, while Weaver looks for a huge upset.
Cheshire-Southington, Nov. 22: Southington seeks to end Cheshire's five-year winning streak, including 41-30 last year, in the Apple Valley Classic.
Middletown vs. Xavier at Wesleyan, Middletown, Nov. 22: Xavier, which defeated the Blue Dragons 48-6 last year, has won 11 of the past 14 games in this city rivalry.
Coventry/Windham Tech/Bolton at Ellington/Somers, Nov. 22: Coventry/Windham Tech/Bolton has tight end Tommy Myers, who's going to UConn. This game often has state playoff implications.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
