The Hartford men's basketball team woke up early in Fort Myers, Fla., Tuesday morning for a 7 a.m. tip against Florida Gulf Coast, then took an early 12-point lead against the Eagles but lost 65-51 to fall to 0-2. The Hawks opened Saturday with an 82-77 loss to Quinnipiac, another game in which they had an early double-digit lead.
Hartford will soon be on its way back to Connecticut and will play Fairfield Wednesday night on the road.
Mark Nwakamma had 23 points and 10 rebounds for Hartford. FGCU's Chase Fieler had a career-high 30, making 13 of 17 shots.
